CallData was designed to use minimal resources and be compatible on a wide variety of systems, without compromising functionality or performance.

Microsoft SQL Server is the only database application that is officially supported and has been thoroughly tested a for use with CallData.

Microsoft SQL Server is available in four editions:

Express
Standard
Workgroup
Enterprise

Each edition provides the basic functionality of hosting databases, although each edition builds upon the previous with additional features & functionality.

SQL Server Express is available free from Microsoft. It has some limitations from the Standard Edition, but most scenarios should be adequate for use with CallData. The Express version’s primary limitation is that its maximum database size of 4 GB limits the amount of computer resources used.

SQL Server Express limitations:

Only 1 CPU utilized
Maximum of 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM utilized
4 GB maximum database size

If you're concerned that 4 GB of data won't be enough to store the amount of historical information you want, you can purchase a license for one of the other editions. Keep in mind that requiring more that 4 GB of data is not typical and CallData gives you the option of purging old data from the database (See Database Maintenance for more information). The Express version is ideal for small to medium sized organizations that only use SQL Server for CallData.
