Database
You should backup your CallData database frequently to help prevent data loss. While there are many backup strategies you can employ, CallData provides simple, easy to use backup functionality.
| 1. | To backup the CallData database click the Backup to Hard Disk File |
| 2. | A window will popup informing you that the database will be backed up to a "CallData.bak" file on the SQL Server. To continue, click Yes. |

| 3. | After clicking Yes, the backup will be created on the SQL Server. The status bar will indicate that the backup has been initiated. |
After initiating a backup, the status bar will display a message indicating that the backup has been initiated.
IMPORTANT: If you run backups (especially from within CallData), make sure that you're following your organization's backup policies. Ask your network administrator to find out if there are any backup policies you need to adhere to.
The Import from Data Source function allows you to easily migrate your CallData database from one server to another or to import data from one CallData database to another.

| 2. | A popup window will appear explaining the process and asking you to verify that want to continue. Click Yes to continue. |

| 3. | Next, you will need to enter the Microsoft SQL Server name (or the connection string) where the original CallData database is hosted. Click OK to start the data import process. |

| 4. | The progress of the data import will be displayed at the bottom of the CallData window. This process may take a few minutes to complete, depending on the capabilities of the SQL Server and the amount of data being imported. |

CallData also supports adding extension information from a CSV file. This is useful when there are many extensions that need to be added, but your phone system doesn't support the automatic addition of extensions. (See the Supported Phone Systems for information on automatic addition of extensions.)
To import extension data, click the Import Extension Data
icon. This will open a window that briefly explains the process and the required format for the CSV file. You will also need to select the location that the user will be added to. When you are ready to continue, click Yes.
You will then need to navigate to the directory where your CSV file is saved. Select the CSV file and click the Open button to start the import process.
